If advance polls are any indication, voter turnout in next week’s municipal elections may see a rare increase.

The City of Guelph tweeted Monday afternoon that more than 10,000 votes had been cast in that city, either through advance polls are online.

In Cambridge, the numbers aren’t quite as dramatic – but city clerk Michael Di Lullo said more than 3,400 people had marked their ballots as of Tuesday afternoon.

“That’s well over and above the numbers that we had in 2010,” he said.

Online voting is also in place in Cambridge – for the first time – and it and telephone voting continue to run through Saturday.

Advance polls ended last weekend in Kitchener.

There, turnout was up six per cent over 2010 levels.
