Wellington County OPP say they’ve made an arrest in connection with a police chase through the community of Drayton last month.

The Aug. 22 chase began when police officer saw a pickup truck allegedly move through an intersection without stopping for the stop sign.

Attempts to stop the vehicle were unsuccessful, police say, and were called off when the truck moved into Drayton – where it knocked over the flagpole at the cenotaph.

The truck was later found abandoned on Wellington Road 11, containing a quantity of stolen property including a motorcycle.

Thursday afternoon, police executed a search warrant at a Palmerston home and arrested the man they believe was behind the wheel of the truck.

Michael Cassel, 29, is charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime, six counts of driving while disqualified and other offences.
