A 77-year-old man faces charges of harassment and dangerous driving after an altercation that police claim started as an argument about a newspaper.

Lambton County OPP say the argument was part of an ongoing dispute about a newspaper being delivered to the 77-year-old’s home, which had escalated to the point where he followed the victim out of the area on several occasions.

Things reached a boiling point Wednesday morning, they say, when a concerned citizen called 911 to report an incident involving the two at the corner of Cairo and Haggerty roads – south of Watford and southeast of Sarnia.

The 77-year-old was released from custody on a promise to appear in court next month.
