Police now say they’re seeking a third man in connection with an assault in downtown Kitchener that left two people hurt.

The assault occurred early Sunday morning on King Street, near Ontario Street.

One 22-year-old man was treated for his injuries and released from hospital Sunday, while another remains in a Hamilton hospital in critical condition.

“We believe (they) were involved in an altercation earlier in the evening, and then the assault was a culmination of that altercation,” said police spokesperson Alana Holtom.

Two Cambridge residents – 24-year-old Devin McMullin and 20-year-old Shane McMullin – were arrested later in the day.

“They were arrested in Cambridge without incident,” said Holtom.

Both appeared in court Monday on aggravated assault charges, and were released on promises to attend a future court date.

A third male suspect is also sought in connection with the attack.

Police don’t believe weapons were used during the incident.
