The cost to replace hundreds of mink set loose from their pens at a farm in St. Marys could pass $200,000.

Perth County OPP released that figure Tuesday, along with other new information relating to the weekend incident.

Specifically, they said 600 of the 1,600 or so released mink remain unaccounted for.

Ranchers in the area suspect animal welfare activists were behind the release, which took place either Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Police continue to investigate. No charges have been laid.
