Three people could have died from drug overdoses were it not for paramedics’ quick action, Brantford Police say.

According to police, four overdoses were reported to the authorities in three separate incidents during a two-hour span on Wednesday.

Three of the four people were given Naloxone, a drug used as an antidote for Fentanyl and other opioids, to reverse the effects of the drugs they had taken.

All four still ended up in hospital, but police say the three given Naloxone could have died had paramedics not intervened.

Police say Fentanyl or prescription opioids is suspected to be behind all four overdoses.

Public health and other authorities have been warning about the dangers of Fentanyl with increased frequency and urgency over the past year.
