A 23-year-old man is dead following a single-vehicle crash that happened early Sunday morning.

Police said Cody Cope-White of Jarvis, Ontario suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the collision happened around 6 a.m., northeast of Port Dover, on Concession 5 Woodhouse in Woodhouse Township, Haldimand County.

As a result, Cope-White was ejected from the grey truck.

Police said an off duty paramedic found the car in a ditch and the unresponsive 23-year-old man.

Neighbours said they did not hear anything in the night, but one house lost power, which leads police to believe the truck collided with a hydro pole.

Police are still investigating at this time and say they are not ruling anything out.

They said they are looking at factors that may have contributed to it including speed, alcohol and if a seat belt was worn.

As a result of the investigation, Concession 5 Woodhouse was closed for approximately 7 hours between East Quarter Townline Road and Highway 6.
