Two people face charges after nearly $2.2 million worth of marijuana was seized from a duplex in Brantford – the city’s biggest drug bust since 2010.

Brantford Police say they executed a search warrant Thursday afternoon at one half of the residence, located on Murray Street near Grey Street.

Fourteen minutes later, they executed a search warrant at the other half of the home.

Inside the two units, police allegedly found 2,080 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, as well as about 7.7 kilograms of harvested marijuana.

Police say the units contained “sophisticated ventilation and water equipment, transformers, lights, fans, fertilizer, beds and pots for the plants to grow.”

Adjodia Persaud, a 62-year-old Brantford resident, and 34-year-old North York resident Tau Binh Lau face charges of producing and possessing marijuana.

Persaud is also charged with one count of breaching his probation.
